ACID NEUTRAL ALKALINE
So lets start by defining what each of these are first, in laymen’s terms,
Alkaline- anything that neutralizes acid
Acid- anything that neutralizes alkali
The idea that eating acid forming foods is that it will make us sick or deplete our heath. One of the biggest myths is that eating acidic foods will change our blood ph which is not completely true, the blood necessarily isn’t affected by acid foods because the blood will MAKE SURE it stays within its ph range no matter what and what I mean by that is, your blood will pull nutrients and minerals from your bones and organs first before it allows its ph to fluctuate. This doesn’t mean that your blood CANNOT become acidic or too alkaline, because if it does trust me you WILL know because you will be fatally sick. Long before your blood ph changes you will experience other issues first in the form of dis-ease.
the idea that eating alkaline foods will make you healthy is also kind of a myth because not all healthy fruits and veggies are alkaline and not all alkaline things are to be consumed.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN that it is ok to eat highly acidic foods in abundance or you have to ONLY eat alkaline foods or drink alkaline water to be healthy. What you want is BALANCE.
meat is highly acidic so you MUST balance it out by eating lots of vegetables and fruits if you eat animal flesh or its by products
alkaline water is not as healthy as you think it is- some of the minerals in the water are inorganic and contain metals that our body cannot use.
OUTSIDE THE BODY
battery acid is acidic and so is lemon juice but lemons are good for the body
milk is right below blood ph but milk is not good for the body
bleach is alkaline and so is baking soda but bleach is not safe for the body while baking soda is
INSIDE THE BODY
your urine, intestines, stomach and saliva is acidic
your blood is NEUTRAL
nothing in the body is completely alkaline
acid can also protect the body
your diet can change the ph of your acid in the body but will not change the ph of your blood so easily
acidic components include protein, phosphate, and sulfur, while alkaline components include calcium, magnesium, and potassium all of which our body needs. BALANCE IS KEY
your kidneys help to remove acid
Your respiratory system is also involved in controlling blood pH. When bicarbonate ions from your kidneys bind to acids in your blood, they form carbon dioxide, which you breathe out, and water, which you pee out.
ACIDOSIS & ALKALOSIS
when the body becomes too acidic its called acidosis and when the body becomes too alkaline its called alkalosis.
in an acidosis state you can experience- headaches, vomiting, nausea, fatigue, respiratory problems, digestive problems etc
some causes of acidosis
obesity, aspirin use, dehydration, diet high in fat
in an alkalosis state you may experience- dizziness, muscle cramps and twitches, numbness, difficulty breathing
some causes of alkalosis include overuse of laxatives or water pills, antacids (decrease in stomach acidity), potassium deficiency, liver and kidney malfunction.
IN CONCLUSION
Eating foods that are high in alkalinity is good to BALANCE out the acid in other foods we may eat or toxins we breathe in
all acid is not created equal for example we need absorb acid for healthy tissues in the body
alkaline water may have inorganic minerals that will overtime lead to joint pain, arthritis, kidney stones, gallstones and more
